Barbara Adam
Barbara Adam, PhD. is Professor of Sociology at Cardiff University. She is a social theorist who has specialised on the subject of social time and more recently the future. She has written extensively on the subject of time and is the founder editor of the journal Time & Society. Her most recent single-authored books are ‘Timescapes of Modernity’ (Routledge, 1998) and ‘Time’ (Polity, 2004). Since 2003 she holds an ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council, UK) Professorial Fellowship to research the social future, which involves study of how we create and know the future, on the one hand, and how we take responsibility for it, on the other.
