Prof. Dr. Erzsébet Nováky
Prof. Dr. Erzsébet Nováky is the vice president of the Advisory Board of the European Futurists Conference Lucerne.
Erzsébet Nováky, DSc in Economics has been the head of the Futures Studies Department at the Corvinus University of Budapest since 1989 and the head of the Complex Futures Research Group supported by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 1999. Her work though has been devoted to education and research of Futures Studies since the 1970’s, when Futures Studies was just emerging in Eastern-Central Europe.
Erzsébet’s on-going projects include developing and implementing futures methodology – as for example methodology of complex socio-economic futures, participatory futures studies – and two specific future themes, "Change and future", and "Hungary beyond tomorrow". She has various publications in the field of futures methodology, education of Futures Studies as well as long-term future aspects of Hungary. Her academic work also includes being the vice-president of Doctoral Council of Social Sciences at the Corvinus University of Budapest and of Futures Research Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
In the educational field, Erzsébet not only gives Futures Studies courses at various academic levels (including PhD level) but also encourages the organisation of alternative future oriented activities to raise futures awareness among younger generations.
Regarding her international activities, she is an active member of several future-related organisations (e.g. World Futures Studies Federation, Finland Futures Academy).
In her free time, Erzsébet likes to discover the present: she is fascinated by exploring new sites both in Hungary and Europe with her husband, István.
